Report on the 2025 Meeting of District Grand Council.

Well over 100 members and guests were present at the twenty-eighth annual meeting of District Grand Council, held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham on Thursday the 17th of July 2025.

At 3.55pm the visiting R.Ill. Companions and other distinguished guests entered the temple in procession and were acclaimed by the assembled Companions.

The Officers of District Grand Council next entered in procession. The District Grand Director of Ceremonies then called the Companions to order to receive the District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp. Phillip Purves, who was welcomed with acclaim.

After welcoming the assembled Companions, the District Grand Master opened District Grand Council in due form at 4pm.

Under the direction of the Dist.G.D.C., the Companions saluted the District Grand Master with 7 times 9.

The Grand Director of Ceremonies entered the temple and announced that the Grand Master was without and demanded admission.

The Grand Master, Most Illustrious Companion Kessick John Jones, was received with acclaim and was welcomed by the Dist.G.M. Under the direction of the G.D.C, the Grand Master was saluted by the assembled Companions with 11 times 9.

The Companions stood to order while the District Grand Chaplain read the roll of those Companions who had passed away over the previous year.

The District Grand Master then welcomed each of the visiting District Grand Masters and their representatives, together with the heads of other orders within the District.

The business of District Grand Council was subsequently conducted according to the agenda:

Items included the confirmation of the minutes of the 2024 meeting, the calling of the roll of Councils within the District, the acceptance of the reports of the District Grand Treasurer and District Grand Secretary, the adoption of revised District By-laws, and the elections of the District Grand Treasurer and account examiners.

The Dist.G.M. then appointed and invested the District Grand Officers for the ensuing year:

The Dist.G.M., accompanied by the G.M., welcomed those Companions present who had joined the order during the year and presented them with complementary memberships of the district 100 club.

By invitation of the Dist.G.M., the Grand Master presented Silver Trowel certificates to those Illustrious Companions who had been honoured with the degree during the year.

The Grand Master next addressed the Companions and commented favourably on the progress of the District and on the amount raised for the sesquicentenary appeal.

The District Grand Master then delivered his address to the Companions.

Following a collection for good causes, District Grand Council was briefly adjourned for some photos, then called back on.

The Grand Master, accompanied by the Grand Director of Ceremonies, retired from District Grand Council.

The Dist.G.M. closed District Grand Council.

The first verse of the National Anthem was sung.

The Dist.G.D.C. formed the retiring procession and the District Grand Master and his Officers, accompanied by the distinguished Visiting Companions, retired.
